For this community artist residency, I had the wonderful opportunity to teach Yoga, do event photography, event planning, and quite a bit of graphic design for the Feed and Be Fed Farm/ Downtown San Pedro Community. I also co-created lesson plans and led several Enlightened Art workshops, and therapeutic art sessions for youth and adult community members.
ABOUT
Enlightened Art is a multi-generational series dedicated to the continued enrichment and engagement of the community through collective art making/art therapy, spending time in nature, gardening, and spiritual connectivity via shared space. As part of the weekly Garden gathering, creative workshops in art making and meditational drawing were led by myself and other local artists every Sunday. Through this art series, our collective mission remains to inspire all who come through the Garden’s gates, and provides them the opportunity to experience the power of creativity in making the world a better place. The program welcomes all to collaborate, share their imagination, and be part of the positive ripple effect that the Garden and its collaborators have created within the San Pedro, CA community.
GREEN GIRL FARMS
Located in the heart of San Pedro, we are leading the effort to build an environmentally sound and socially just food system in the communities surrounding the Port of Los Angeles. We are dedicated to growing healthy, great-tasting produce throughout the community in backyards, empty spaces and community gardens while making it available to everyone through local markets and donations. Our workshops, classes and growing spaces are opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and are gathering places in our community.
